Past the Halfway Mark at Day 67

We’ve officially passed the halfway point of Colton’s 100-day post-transplant period. With his immune system still brand new, we’ve been well-quarantined near UTSW. Today is Day +67, and Colton’s feeling good. His physical strength has done a total 180 since he left the hospital—it’s been pretty amazing to see.

Two of the biggest updates since our last post: First, we got Rylie (our pup) back after 52 days apart! She’s Colton’s girl, and their reunion was the sweetest. Second, this week his team started tapering his tacrolimus (his GVHD prevention med). It’s a nerve-wracking step forward, as we have to watch closely for any signs of GVHD, but it also means his team feels good about where he’s at.

Even in our bubble, we’ve felt so supported—our parents doing drop-offs, friends who FaceTime us just to catch up during their everyday routines, and Colton’s amazing coworkers who have a running pool on when his platelets will finally hit a normal range (“The Great Platelet Countdown”). These little things mean the world and remind us there’s some normalcy waiting for us on the other side of this.

We’re just so grateful—for Colton’s progress, for the people in our lives, and for all the prayers and encouragement.
