First White Blood Cells & Progress Toward Home

Colton is now day +18 post-transplant. In the last few days, his body has started producing its own white blood cells, which is great news. He still needs blood, platelets, and magnesium replacement, but he has transitioned from IV to oral medications to help prevent graft vs host disease, which means we’re getting closer to going home.

He has developed some symptoms of engraftment syndrome over the past day or so, but they are closely monitoring and treating him as needed. We know the next few weeks and months will come with ups and downs as his body recovers and adjusts. We celebrate the moments when he feels good and more like himself, but he’s also taking the tough moments in stride. Anyone who knows Colton knows his optimism and resilience are one of a kind, and I’m especially thankful for and encouraged by these God-given gifts of his.

Thank you, as always, for your constant prayers for Colton. Please continue praying for the engraftment syndrome to resolve and for us to be able to go home soon.
